I have a quick Monday Morning tip for you this week. It comes from a colleague of mine and landed in my in box this morning in the form of her out of office message. It goes like this:
“Thank you for your email today. I am out of the office and away from technology until Friday, February 12th. If you need immediate assistance, please call or text my cell phone 222-333-4444. I’ll respond as quickly as possible.”
I like the reference to being away from technology and that she is providing an emergency contact… just in case.
Next time you are taking holidays consider getting off of technology too. Before you go, warn your clients of you away dates about two weeks prior. Connect them with another lawyer at your office for handling anything that comes up during your time away. And really do stay off technology. Or if you do want to check everyday – don’t respond to messages and give yourself away. Your clients have your emergency number should they need to use it.
