Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
As I write this Monday morning practice, I can hear the rain coming down, and my dogs quietly breathing as they lie curled up in bed. I am thinking about pausing. About how, for me, the best ideas, the insights, don’t come at my desk but after I have taken a break.
Last week I took time to enjoy a cup of tea with my wife in the afternoon and had a breakthrough idea for a training program. A commercial litigator recently told me he has his best ideas after a run. I think all of us benefit greatly when we take opportunities to pause.
Our powerful brains do their best work when we allow them some space to simply do their thing. When does your brain give you the best ideas?
This week’s practice is a simple one about noticing. Notice when you pause, when you take a break from productivity, and what this brings for you.
Weave some intentional pauses into the day and notice what this brings.
